Meet BHC

Who We Are
Behavioral Health Choices (BHC) is a community-based nonprofit network formed by four long-standing rural Ohio providers: Perry Behavioral Health Choices, Morgan Behavioral Health Choices, Muskingum Behavioral Health, and Guernsey Health Choices. Together, we provide prevention, counseling, treatment, and recovery support for people of all ages—serving individuals, families, and referral partners across Southeast Ohio.
While our organizations have come together under one umbrella, the doors you know remain open, and our teams remain deeply rooted in their local communities. By aligning as one network, we strengthen access to care, share expertise, steward community resources responsibly, and expand our collective impact—without losing the relationships and hospitality that have defined each organization for decades.
Our Story
Each of our founding organizations was built in response to local need and guided by local leadership. For decades, they have partnered with schools, courts, employers, healthcare providers, and community organizations to prevent substance use, support mental health, and help people move toward recovery.
In Perry County, Perry Behavioral Health Choices has served the community since 1973. In Morgan County, Morgan Behavioral Health Choices has developed prevention and recovery programs that strengthen families and promote healthier, substance-free lives. Muskingum Behavioral Health and Guernsey Health Choices have long provided counseling, treatment, and community-based supports that meet people where they are—from the first call for help through sustained recovery.
As demand for services grew and the behavioral health landscape became more complex, our boards and leadership made a deliberate decision: to come together in order to protect local access, strengthen quality, and build capacity beyond what any single organization could achieve alone. Behavioral Health Choices enables shared clinical expertise, aligned quality and compliance standards, reduced administrative duplication, and reinvestment in care close to home. We honor the legacy of each organization. That history shapes who we are—and it continues to guide our work every day.

Our Commitment
Our commitment is to promote personal well-being and support recovery through compassionate, high-quality behavioral health care. We protect confidentiality, welcome every individual with dignity, and deliver services that are practical, effective, and responsive to real-world needs.
Across all Behavioral Health Choices locations, clients and partners can expect consistent standards, clear communication, and a culture of continuous improvement.
While we operate as one network, we remain deeply local serving each county with the same respect, accessibility, and hospitality our communities have long trusted. We also work side by side with families, clinicians, schools, courts, healthcare providers, and community partners, because stronger systems, built together, lead to better outcomes for the people we serve.
